Confluence Queens Bids Final Farewell To Late Founder, Pa David Ayo Owolabi

Confluence Queens Football Club of Lokoja, led by Chairman Hon. Abdulmalik Isah, paid their last respects to the club’s late founder, Pa David Ayo Owolabi, fondly known as “Owo Blow.”

Pa Owolabi passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, after a brief illness in Lokoja. His remains were laid to rest today, Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in his hometown, Ogori.

Speaking after the burial, Hon. Abdulmalik Isah, on behalf of the Kogi State government, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.

“I sincerely sympathize with the family over this great loss. Pa Owolabi was a legend and the pioneer of Confluence Queens. He made immense contributions to women’s football and deserves even greater recognition,” he stated.

“We loved him, and he will always be in our prayers. May God grant him eternal rest,” he added.

The club’s team manager, Mrs. Olorunleke Ojo, also paid tribute to the late founder.

“Though Pa Owolabi is no longer with us, his legacy lives on. He will always be remembered as a pioneer of women’s football in Nigeria, not just Confluence Queens,” she said.

“His passing is a moment to celebrate a life well spent, and we at Confluence Queens will continue to honor the foundation he laid for the club. Rest in peace, Owo Blow.”
