The event will take place on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Olympafrica Centre in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos State.

According to a statement by Tony Nezianya, Public Relations Officer of the NOC, the programme aligns with the Commonwealth’s core values of unity, equity, and youth empowerment. It seeks to address pressing global issues, promote positive societal change, and combat social vices through education and sports.

NOC Secretary-General, Tunde Popoola, emphasized the importance of tackling drug abuse among youths, noting that the programme will also serve as a platform for students from different schools to interact and learn about CGN’s initiatives.

The seminar is open to students aged 14 to 17 from both public and private schools, with at least 15 schools invited to participate. Youths who utilize the Olympafrica Centre will also take part.

A well-respected medical expert, Dr. Adebukola Bojuwoye, will lead the seminar, educating participants on the dangers of drug use and how sports can serve as a corrective tool for addressing these societal challenges.

Students attending the programme will receive branded T-shirts, certificates of participation, and sports equipment such as volleyballs, basketballs, or footballs for their respective schools. The Olympafrica Centre youths will also receive footballs.

Refreshments will be provided, and the programme will run from 10 AM to 5 PM.

NOC President, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, will officially declare the event open.
