The players of Sunshine Queens have been charged to go for the jugular in today’s (Wednesday) week two Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) encounter with Confluence Queens of Lokoja at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Ondo State, Barr Dotun Owanikin made the rallying call on Tuesday during a visit to the camp of the Betty Babes in the company of ODSFA’s Acting Chairman, Prince Tunde Ogunja.
Barr Owanikin and Ogunja who were received by Team Manager, Seun Betiku and other officials at the players base heaped praises on the lads following their impressive outing away at Bayelsa, before rallying the coach Wemimo Mathew tutored players for the visit of Confluence Queens.
Owanikin stated: “We appreciate your efforts on matchday one in Yenegoa against Bayelsa Queens. Despite all the odds you were able to muster a good outing, you have already proven a point to us on what you can do. I say well done to you!
“Now we are saying go for the victory against Confluence Queens. You should be giving them at least 3-0, no disrespecting to your opponents, but we already know what you can pull particularly now you will be playing at home and now under a much better condition. Go and give us victory tomorrow!”
The Commissioner also handed a cash gift to the scorer of the consolation goal against Bayelsa Queens Seun Fakunle and promised a similar reward for future individual and team impressive outings.
Coach Mathew and captain, Onyebuchi Ihioma Goodness took time to appreciate Barr Owanikin and the ODSFA management for their continuous support and efforts to motivate and put the team in good stead.
