The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Nasarawa State, Hon. Jafaru Ango, warmly received Barr. Paul Edeh, the North-Central Coordinator of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) U-17 Youth League, during a visit to his office in Lafia.
The visit aimed to discuss preparations for the upcoming league and seek government support.

Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, Commissioner Jafaru expressed gratitude for the visit and assured full government support for the successful organization of the league.
He emphasized the positive impact the league would have on nurturing young talents across Nasarawa State and the North-Central Zone.
Barr. Paul Edeh, who also serves as the Chairman of the Benue State Football Association, conveyed appreciation from the NPFL Board to the Nasarawa State Government for approving Lafia City Stadium as one of the league venues.
He highlighted the strategic location of Lafia, providing accessibility for NPFL clubs in nearby states.
The North-Central Coordinator explained that the Youth Tournament aimed to create a talent hub that aligns with the requirements of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and FIFA for building succession programs in football.
He commended the working relationship between the State Government and the Nasarawa State Football Association, emphasizing the warm reception since their arrival in the state capital.
Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, the Permanent Secretary, expressed gratitude for the souvenir kits presented by the NPFL U-17 Coordinator.
He recalled his involvement in initiating the NPFL U-17 Youth League during his tenure as Chairman of Nasarawa United FC.
He reaffirmed Governor Abdullahi Sule’s commitment to sports, especially grassroots football, promising the state’s support for a successful tournament.
The 2023/24 NPFL U-17 Youth League, North Central Zone, kicked off on February 1, featuring matches between Plateau United and Niger Tornadoes, as well as Lobi Stars against Kwara United.
The tournament, which aligns with the state’s focus on grassroots talent development, will conclude on February 3, 2024.
