Commendations Trail George Aluo-Led NNL Board as Third Awards Ceremony Shines in Abuja

The George Aluo -led Board of the Nigeria National League (NNL) received widespread praise during its third Annual Awards Ceremony held in Abuja on Tuesday, celebrating remarkable strides in Nigeria’s second-tier domestic football.

Representing the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, NFF First Vice President, Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu, lauded the NNL board’s innovations and urged them to maintain their momentum in elevating what he termed the “most important league” in the country.

Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, NFF Second Vice President and Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), commended the board for steering the NNL in the right direction, particularly towards increased private-sector involvement in club ownership and operations.

Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, General Secretary of the NFF, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that the NFF had no regrets entrusting the current board with the league’s management.

He also seized the opportunity to invite First Bank PLC to partner with the NNL in an effort to empower youths and combat social vices through football.

Former NFF President, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi, praised the strong synergy between the NFF and the various league bodies.

He recognized the NFF’s commitment to grassroots football development and reiterated the need for private-sector sponsorship in domestic football.

NNL Chairman, Mr. George Aluo, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries for their encouraging remarks. He credited the success of the league to the visionary leadership of Alhaji Gusau and Dr. Sanusi and described the awards as a means of fostering excellence, discipline, and healthy competition among players, officials, and referees.

He also acknowledged key partners ProStar Recreational Services Limited and Sportslights Hub for supporting the awards initiative.

NNL CEO, Mr. Emmanuel Attah, shared insights into how partnerships with ProStar and Sportslights Hub were secured. He encouraged the continued collaboration, noting the growing reach of NNL match footage both locally and internationally.
