Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Kwara United of Ilorin coach, Mohammed Bala Abubakar has rued his side’s exit from the 2018 Federation Cup.
Abubakar was full of lamentations, after seeing his beaten 3-1 by Katsina United in their quarter-finals fixture at Agege Stadium, Lagos on Wednesday, but said they lost gallantly.
Making his thoughts known in an interview with sports247.ng, Bala said they were not disgraced and expressed satisfaction with his side’s run in the season.
Abubakar went on to give thanks for how the season turned out since he joined The Afonja Warriors, but blamed their Federation Cup exit on momentary loss of concentration by his defenders.
“It was a painful defeat, no doubt,” Bala admitted, “But I am consoled in the fact that my players gave their best.
“They tried all through the season and, if not for a second loss of concentration, we would still be in the Federation Cup.”
