Enyimba FC’s coach, Finidi George, expressed his satisfaction with the result in the post-match conference. “It feels good to win games,” he said, acknowledging the tough competition posed by Heartland FC, who are fighting to survive in the league.
Despite the narrow score line, Finidi George believes his team had numerous opportunities to increase their lead. “Looking at the game, I think we had all the chances to have scored more goals,” he stated. However, these chances did not materialize into goals, leading to some tense moments for the coach, who feared the possibility of an equalizer from the opponents.
The victory was particularly sweet for Finidi George, as it coincided with his birthday. He revealed that he had asked his team for a win as his birthday gift. “I told the boys they should win this game for my birthday, and that’s what they did. I didn’t want anything from them, just victory, and I’m quite happy that they won the game for me,” he shared.
This victory not only boosts Enyimba FC’s morale but also strengthens their position in the NPFL, setting the stage for an exciting end to the season.
