Finidi George, the head coach of Enyimba Football Club of Aba, has criticized the officiating in their recent 1-0 away loss to Lobi Stars.
Despite believing his team performed better and had more opportunities to win, Finidi George expressed frustration at what he deemed as dubious calls by the referee that favored Lobi Stars.

“We should be better than this. In terms of officiating, we have to be better than this. When you have a penalty shout and it’s not given, what do you expect? Is it mandatory for the home team to win? Where are we headed?
Every time, the same scenario unfolds. And we keep talking about improving the league. We have to do better than this now,” lamented Finidi George.
He questioned the fairness of the decisions made by the match officials, highlighting a missed penalty call as a pivotal moment in the game.
Despite conceding a goal to Lobi Stars, Finidi George argued that Enyimba had more opportunities to secure victory.
“If you look at the game overall, we had better chances to win. That’s the truth of it. If you analyze the match, you’ll see how many opportunities we created compared to our opponents,” he asserted.
Finidi George’s remarks underscore the importance of impartial officiating in football matches and call for greater consistency and fairness from referees to ensure the integrity of the game.
