The head coach of Nigeria’s under-18 handball national team, Emeka Nnamani says he is targeting nothing but top spot at this year’s IHF Trophy Intercontinental Phase competition in Kosovo, as he believes his squad has garnered enough experience to emerge winners of this year’s contest.
Sports247 gathered that, with the competition set to begin this Wednesday in the city of Pristina, Nnamani is talking tough and expressed confidence in the ability of his players to bring to bear experience gained from their previous two outings, in which they placed third and second respectively.
Nnamani declared, “With what we are doing here, we are confident that we have the experience to win this competition. We have played at this intercontinental level twice before. The last time we came second and the previous year we were third.”
Nnamani added that he is staying hopeful that his players will remain focused from March 12th when the competition begins up till the final on March 16th, with Nigeria facing New Caledonia this Wednesday and then the host country in the same group.
“This time around, we are hoping to move from where we were to make it up to first position this year. That’s why we are all putting everything in place to see that we achieve our aim this time around and get to the top of this championship,” Nnamani affirmed.
