The maiden edition of the Coach Aliyu Zubairu U13 Kiddies Tournament has reached the semi-finals stage as teams clash for grand finale places on Friday, 10th of January 2025, Sports247 reports.
The tournament, which featured 20 teams and over 200 kids footballers with free registration was in part organised in honour of the Nigeria’s Flying Eagles Head Coach and Technical Adviser of Elkanemi Warriors Aliyu Zubairu.
It has also served as an platform to discover football talents at the grassroots.
The stakes couldn’t be more higher as the tournament now enters the last four stage. Barca Kiddies,a high flying team from Eiyenkorin, in Asa local government of Kwara State will battle Future Stars FA in the first semi-final while Kingshood FC will take on Dickalo Boys in the fight for the final ticket on Friday at Kwara Football Academy Pitch.
The encounters promise to be yet another spectacle, showcasing the talents that abound in Kwara State and also giving them opportunity to express their skills.
In his usual magnanimity, Coach Aliyu Zubairu has also decided to present a complete sets of jerseys to all the teams that qualified for the quarterfinals.
According to him, the gesture will spur them to do more in the next edition, boost their morale, and also raise the bar of their performance while also supporting grassroots football development.
Plans have also been concluded to give out fantastic prizes for the winner of the tournament and outstanding players and official on the final day.
While cash prizes will be doled out to the winner and the runners up, awards will also be given out to the Most Valuable Player, Highest Goalscorer, outstanding Goalkeeper and Best Coach of the tournament.
