At the first Semi-Final match decided at the Lafia City Stadium, NAYES, presumed tournament’s favourites, showed early flashes in their usual charismatic, with the Civil Defence side doing more of defending, but nothing to separate both sides heading into the interval.
The Nasarawa State Para-Military Security Outfit, however, took the lead shortly after the restart through familiar goal poacher, Aliyu Suleiman Galadima, in a sumptuous fashion.
The lead lasted for only five minutes as the Civil Defence side rallied back to draw level, courtesy of Ovey Victor Peter.
Both sides sized each other up but nothing to alter the scoreline as the game went into penalty shootout.
NAYES who led the kick-off proceedings missed two of their five spot kicks as the NSCDC slotted four of their five kicks to win 4-3 and qualified for their maiden final amidst wild celebrations and fanfare from the Agency’s personnel.
They will wait for the winners between the Nigerian Army versus the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in the other Semi-final clash on Tuesday, 23rd January, 2024, by 4pm at the Lafia City Stadium.
