The technical director of Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF), Engineer Chika Chukwumerije has reeled out figures of registered competitors for the upcoming international competition in Abuja, sports247.ng reports.
The Beijing 2008 Olympics bronze medalist further disclosed that eight countries have indicated interest to participate in the upcoming contest, which is offiically known as Nigeria Taekwondo International Open.
Chukwumerije stated that Nigeria, DR Congo, USA, Togo, Niger Republic, Cameroon, Ghana and Burkina Faso have registered for the competition, which will hold from 8th to 10th February at the Velodrome Package A, National Stadium, Abuja.
He added that the registration deadline was shifted to 29th January to allow those that have registered offline to complete online registration on the World Taekwondo Registration Portal.
Chukwumerije further said: “So far, 55 athletes from Nigeria, USA, DR Congo, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Togo and Cameroon have completed their online registration.
“There are 53 pending offline registrations from Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, Benin Republic, Mali, Tunisia.
“Togo registered two athletes while Niger Republic signals the intention by registering eight athletes.”
