Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze may still be high on the mind of Super Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr, despite his non-inclusion in the tactician’s latest list of invitees, as a top offiicial has disclosed that the youngster was only left out for him to join the under-23 team.
Sports247.ng gathered on authority that, although Chukwueze has lost his place in Villarreal’s starting line-up and appears to be battling for form, he was not snubbed by Rohr, who still rates the lad highly.
The Olympic Eagles will take on Libya at the Bengerdan Stadium in Bengerdan, Tunisia on Wednesday, 20th March while the return leg will hold in Nigeria on March 25.
In contrast with initial permutations that Chukwueze suffered the fate of his lost spot with The Yellow Submarine, it was gathered further that his name has already been shortlisted for inclusion in the forthcoming list of invitees to be announced by Olympic Eagles’ coach, Imama Amapakabo.
Expected to feature alongside Chukwueze are FC Zurich of Switzerland forward, Stephen Odey and Spezia of Italy striker, David Okereke, among others, all of which the top official said Rohr is aware of.
The credible source expatiated: “Samuel Chukwueze was not dropped by Gernot Rohr, he was only left out of the Super Eagles’ list to allow him to play for the Olympic Eagles in the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifiers.
“With the Olympic Eagles set to play Libya on March 20 in the first leg at a venue in Tunisia, there is no way Chukwueze would play for the Super Eagles two days later against Seychelles in Asaba.”
