Samuel Chukwueze was a second-half sub for Villarreal last weekend against Real Madrid and made a telling impact in his 29 minutes on the pitch. The flying winger was a nuisance to Madrid’s defense and won a penalty which was converted by a teammate to see both sides share the spoils in the 1-1 draw.
Expressing his views of Chukwueze’s performance, former Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, and Nigerian midfielder Mutiu Adepoju praised the youngster but also stressed that he needs to work more in terms of scoring.
“When he was brought on in the second half, he really caused havoc against Real Madrid,” Adepoju told Goal.
“He was the brain behind the goal Villarreal scored and overall, he had a very great game.
“However, when he gets near the goal, he rushes and fires off target because he is not calming down.
“Probably, he needs to work on his finishing skills during training because I feel with his dribbling abilities, he should be scoring more goals.”
Adepoju, who played a stellar role in Nigeria’s 1994 AFCON win and is also a La Liga Ambassador added that he still believes Chukwueze is in the right direction.
