Chukwueze Made Impact Against Real Madrid – Solari

Real Madrid boss, Santiago Solari has acknowledged the attacking role played by Villarreal youngster, Samuel Chukwueze in Thursday’s draw.

Both side’s settled for shared points in the rescheduled match, which sports247.ng recalls Chukwueze felt his side would win at home, and Solari admits the hosts put up a great attacking threat in the 2-2 result.

Though The Yellow Submarine were unable to take maximum points as they plotted against their more respected visitors, Chukwueze made his mark with another assist for the hosts.

Chukwueze was also full of running and deadly touches all through the encounter, such that Solari’s verdict after the game cited the Super Eagles’ rookie among the lads who wreaked havoc on Los Blancos.

Chukwueze got the assist for Santi Carzola to net the opener at Ceramica Stadium, before Madrid replied through Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane to take the lead.

Chukwueze assisted Cazorla’s fourth minute goal with a through ball which the former Arsenal star curled into the far bottom beyond the reach of Thibaut Courtois.

It was Chukwueze’s fourth assist of the season, in which he has two La Liga goals as well as one each in Copa Del Rey and Europa League, with a seven games to show on the domestic front.

Chukwueze was a menace for the visitors from Madrid, forcing corners off deflections from Courtois and Sergio Ramos, then almost forced an own goal from Varane in the 90th minute.

His efforts helped the home team grab the equaliser with eight minutes left, with Carzola again on song, after which Solari said Chukwueze and his colleagues in Villarreal’s attack kept pressing till the last whistle.

Solari recounted: “They pressed higher and brought more guys into the attack in search of the draw.”
