Former national team player and coach, Christian Chukwu has warned the Super Eagles to thread with caution and not gamble with any of their remaining Group E matches if they want to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
“I hope the Super Eagles will thread with caution in their remaining four matches in the group. Anything taken for granted will be suicidal at this stage,” Christian Chukwu warned in an interview with Sports247.ng.
The former Eagles skipper noted that the double header against Libya won’t be easy for Nigeria, even as he warned that the team need to prepare very well to put their hopes of qualification back on track.
“The matches with Libya will be very tactical and difficult for the Super Eagles. It’s a double header for the team, which is very important.”
“It’s important for the Super Eagles to prepare very hard to put the North Africans are dangerous opponents.”
Nigeria will host the first leg at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday 13th October with the return leg scheduled for the 18,000-capacity Stade Taïeb Mhiri in the city of Sfax, Tunisia on Tuesday 16th October.
