Former Super Eagles head coach, Christian Chukwu has opined that the Nigerian national team will beat South Africa in next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier because they are now better prepared than they previously were, sports247.ng gathered.
Although South Africa will play the November 17 match at home and earlier beat Nigeria 2-0 in Uyo during the first leg last year, Chukwu reckons that the Eagles were not well prepared back then.
Conversely, the man who captained Nigeria to win their first feel of the AFCON trophy on home soil in 1980, is now sticking his neck out for a famous victory for the Eagles at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
Chukwu further said the Eagles have recently shown they are a lot more prepared than South Africa, with a verdict that home and away victories over Libya last week provided testimonies of Nigeria’s preparedness.
He, however, warned that the Eagles must not rest on their oars, and charged the players to go all out for the three points on November 17.
“The Super Eagles must let South Africa know that they are now more prepared than before.
“They must grab their three points from there without any doubt because they are good now,” Chukwu concluded.
