Former Kwara United Captain Chris Nwaeze on Sunday, August 4, made his debut for Ukrainian giants Zorya Luhansk helping the team to beat visiting Inhulets 2-1 in a tough battle.
The experienced and talented Central Defender did not start the encounter which was the season’s opener for Zorya Luhansk, but he was incredible in the second half when he came on in the 65th minute creating the assist that gave his side the winning goal.
Nwaeze would have even made a scoring debut at the death, but his powerful header hit the woodwork.
The Nigeria international would however be looking forward to help his team record more success in the coming fixtures this term in the Ukrainian topflight.
Speaking about his debut, Nwaeze expressed happiness and stated emphatically that he is at Zorya Luhansk to win titles.
“It was a tough game for my new team, but I am happy that it ended in a win for me and my teammates and it’s also a morale booster going into the next game.
“Playing in Europe has for years been my dream and I am here to make my stay count and help the team succeed,” Nwaeze explained.
Nwaeze’s record at Kwara United has not been equalled or broken as he remains the first and only Captain to record 4 away wins in a season for the Harmony Boys.
With Zorya Luhansk’s win against Inhulets, Nwaeze and his teammates occupy second position on the standings and will face Chornomorets Odesa in their next game this coming Saturday.
