Despite being dropped from Nigeria’s female national team, Super Falcons’ squad for this month’s Africa Women Cup of Nations in Ghana, Chioma Success Wogu says the side is strong enough to retain the title they won two years ago in Cameroon.
Rather than feel any malice over her exclusion from the team, Wogu told sports247.ng that she is still rooting for the Falcons to emerge tops in Ghana.
Wogu said she has enough confidence in the squad handled by Thomas Dennerby to go all the way to their ninth title overall, and hopes to get a recall when they go to the FIFA Women’s World Cup next year.
Wogu said: “In have enough confidence in this current squad. The team is strong and they can beat any opponent in Africa.
“I am sure that the African opposition they will face in Ghana will only try to stop them, but the Falcons will scale through.
“Nigeria is always a very strong force to reckon with at the African Women Nations Cup, and I am hoping to join them for the World Cup in France when they qualify in Ghana.”
