Nigerian-American professional basketball player, Chimezie Metu has revealed that he is available for selection for Nigeria next weekend for the World Cup qualifier games.
It will be notably recalled that Metu was included in the Nigerian final roster for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Over a four-year cycle, national teams will play regular home and away games to qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup and the FIBA Continental Cups with a total of 80 national teams from the four regions of Africa, Americas, Asia (and Oceania) and Europe to play in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers.
Metu who plays for Sacramento Kings stated that he won’t let the country pride go down without a proper fight.
“I can’t let us go down without a fight. We’ve come too far. This next window is huge for us qualifying.”

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will qualify teams directly for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games or through 4 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.
The Qualifiers will take place from November 2021 to February 2023 with 80 national teams competing for a spot in the World Cup.
1st Window: November 22 – 30, 2021
2nd Window: February 21 – March 1, 2022
3rd Window: June 27 – July 5, 2022
4th Window: August 22 – 30, 2022
5th Window: November 7 – 15, 2022
6th Window: February 20 – 28, 2023
