Super Falcons’ veteran defender, Rita Chikwelu has declared that she and her teammates will not underrate any opponent that comes their way at the Africa Women Cup of Nations in Ghana.
Although she admits they slipped up in their opening match against South Africa, Chikwelu says the Falcons have learnt tyheir lesson and will not allow the mistakes be repeated.
Heading into their third group match against Equatorial Guinea on Saturday, sports247.ng reports that Chikwelu was in buoyant mood, as she declared emphatically that the Falcons were primed to win once again.
She said they were excited to get back to winning ways against Zambia last Wednesday, which the team captain said was a sign that their worst days are over.
Consequently, Chikwelu stressed that the team are looking ahead to the semi-finals and grand finale, from which they aim to emerge ninth-time champions of Africa.
“We are not underrating any team as far as this tournament is concerned. We are going to do all it takes. It has never been easy and we are prepared for that,” Chikwelu stated.
