Kristianstad of Sweden midfielder, Rita Chikwelu has extended her contract with the female football club, as the Nigerian alternate captain aims to make the best of her twilight carer.
Sports247.ng reports that, after co-captaining Nigeria, with Onome Ebi, to a ninth Africa Women Cup of Nations title in Ghana, Chikwelu has now gained a contract extension in The Land of The Midnight Sun.
Details of the report out of Sweden indicate that Chikwelu will don No. 18 jersey, after putting pen to paper to extend her stay at the Vilans IP Stadium-based club for another season.
Chikwelu’s new contract with the Swedish Damallsvenskan side marks a long term spell for the 30-year-old at the club she joined from their top-flight rivals, Umea in 2016.
Chikwelu will now seek greater pickings in what could be her last term with the team coached by Elizabeth Gunnarsdottir, as she is in her ninth season in Sweden.
She scored five goals as her side finished fourth in the Damallsvenskan log with 39 points from 22 games last season, and will aim to continue when they start their campaign at home against Rosengård on April 14.
