Former Super Eagles defender, Chikelue Iloenyosi has urged the team’s coach, Gernot Rohr to ensure he rolls out a programme that will ensure his team start preparations early for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The former youth international, who was part of the Flying Eagles’ squad that could not shine as host of the 1999 World Youth Championship, said only early preparation will help Nigeria shine at AFCON 2019.
Iloenyosi said further in a chat with sports247.ng that Rohr will have to set the ball in motion early, if he wants his players to make any impact in the continental soccer championship next year.
He warned: “Other teams will be coming into the competition with the best of players and well shaped.
“I believe that only good preparation will stand us in good stead heading into the competition, because every team will be out to beat Nigeria.”
