Chikelue Iloenyosi Backs Super Eagles To Reclaim African Dominance Ahead of AFCON Qualifiers

Chikelue Iloenyosi, the chairman of the Anambra Football Association and a former Super Eagles international, has expressed confidence in the current state of the Nigerian national football team, Sports247 reports.

As the Super Eagles gear up for their crucial home-and-away 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya, Iloenyosi believes the squad is regaining its stature as a powerhouse in African football.

Speaking ahead of the qualifiers, Iloenyosi praised the team’s form, attributing their resurgence to the players’ commitment and stellar performances at their respective clubs. “The team is gradually becoming a strong force again in Africa,” Iloenyosi said.

“With the attitude of the players and the form we are seeing, our players are really doing well with their clubs. The majority of the players are regulars in their teams, and many are performing well week in and week out.”

Iloenyosi highlighted the importance of the team’s consistency and chemistry, key factors he believes will drive the Super Eagles to success, not only in the upcoming matches but also in future tournaments. “I see this team, apart from just qualifying, ruling Africa again,” he added, brimming with optimism.

The Super Eagles will first host Libya at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, October 11th, before traveling to Benghazi for the return leg at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium on Tuesday, October 15th.

The fixtures are critical for Nigeria as they look to secure their spot in the 2025 AFCON and reassert their dominance on the continent.

With the team currently in fine form and a promising lineup of players, Iloenyosi’s belief in the Super Eagles’ potential resurgence resonates with fans who are eager to see Nigeria rise to the top of African football once more.
