Two Nigeria stars, Chigozie Awaziem, Kenneth Omeruo will not be playing in the Spanish top-flight competition when the league resumes next season following Leganes 2-2 draw with Champions, Real Madrid on the final game day of the campaign.
LaLiga strugglers Leganes did little to boost their survival bid as they played out a 0-0 draw on the road against lowly Eibar at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium on Thursday following a 2-0 win at 10-man Athletic Bilbao to send their relegation battle to the final day of the La Liga season as Mallorca were relegated following a 2-1 home defeat by Granada.
Leganes, led by Mexican coach Javier Aguirre, had entered the match one point behind Celta Vigo, the first team outside the relegation zone. Celta, winless in the final seven rounds, survived despite being held 0-0 by last-place Espanyol. It will play in the top flight for a ninth straight year next season.
Leganes was unbeaten in the last five rounds, with three wins and two draws. The team from southern Madrid last played in the second division in 2015-16.
Espanyol and second-to-last-place Mallorca joins Leganes as the trio bows out of LaLiga.
