Team Delta was forced to a scoreless draw in the opening game of the ongoing Chief Of Naval Staff U14 Cup in Kwara state, ilorin this Monday.
Both teams sized themselves from all position from the start to finish with remarkable display of soccer artistry and creative goal opportunities but it all played out that both state defenders and goal keepers were equalled to the task to keep the attackers well in check to conclude the game goalless.
Coach Obilo Emeka one of Delta state finest grass root technician said his boys failed to convert their many chances and that they will work on against Team Enugu state next.
“We will have to work on converting our chances which will failed to do against Team Kaduna”.
“Team Enugu is a good side any day. They defeated Ekiti 2-0 in their first game, so playing them next will be one of our toughest game”.
Team Delta against Team Enugu will kick off by 1pm at the Kwara state Academy Sports Complex, Ilorin.
The best of grassroot football was on display on match day one with Team Kwara emerging as the biggest winner, hammering Team Bauchi 7-0.
Team Kano lost to Team Osun 0-2, same with Ekiti 0-2 against Team Enugu.
Team Edo defeated Team River’s 2-0, while Team Oyo and Team Nasarawa recorded the second barrel draw, as the Nigerian Navy team defeated Team Ondo 2-1 to wrapped up day one fixtures.
Day 3 of the (U-14 boys) fixture will be as follow:
Adamawa vs Kebbi – 11am
Kwara vs Kano – 12pm
Bauchi vs Osun – 12pm
Ekiti vs Kaduna 1pm
Enugu vs Delta – 1pm
Edo vs Nigerian Navy- 2pm
River vs Ondo 2pm
Adamawa vs Oyo – 3pm
Kebbi vs Nasarawa – 3pm.
