Super Eagles star Chidera Ejuke is on the verge of joining Hertha Berlin on loan from CSKA Moscow. According to Billd, the winger will be loaned out for a year to the Bundesliga club without a purchase option.
Hertha Berlin trainer Sandro Schwarz knows Ejuke from his time as a coach at CSKA Moscow’s city rival Dynamo Moscow and is said to be a big admirer of the player.
Ejuke recorded five goals and as many assists in 30 Russian Premier League games for CSKA last season. The exciting winger joined the Red-Blues in 2020 from SC Heerenveen in a deal worth €11.50m. His contract runs until June 2024.
Hertha barely avoided relegation from the German top flight last season after finishing 17th. The capital club defeated Hamburger SV in the relegation play-offs to remain in the league.
Since making the move to Russia two years ago, Ejuke’s career has not taken the leap many expected it would. The Nigerian international will however have a chance to prove his worth in a top-five European league next season when he completes the transfer to join Hertha in the Bundesliga.
