Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke has been nominated for CSKA Moscow 2021/22 Best Player of the Season award. Ejuke was among eight players shortlisted for the prize.
“The voting for the best player of CSKA Moscow last season has started,” the club released this on its official website.
“Among the contenders are Chidera Ejuke, Igor Akinfeev, Mario Fernandez, Yusuf Yazice, Ivan Oblyakov, Igor Diveev, Yaka Biyol and Jorge Carrascal.
“Voting takes place on two platforms: in the official communities of CSKA Moscow in Telegram and Vkontakte. Voting will take place simultaneously on the two club resources. The player with the most votes in the sum of the two polls will win.”
Ejuke scored five goals and provided as many assists in 30 Russian Premier League matches as the Red-Blues finished 5th place last season. He made another two in the Russian Cup where CSKA were eliminated at the quarter-finals by eventual winners Spartak Moscow.
Ejuke joined CSKA in 2020 from Dutch outfit SC Heerenveen. The tricky winger has made 65 appearances across two seasons at the club. A Nigerian international, the 24-year-old was a member of the Super Eagles side at this year’s AFCON in Cameroon, where Nigeria was eliminated in the Round of 16 by Tunisia. He was left out of the latest Nigeria squad currently preparing to begin qualifiers for the 2023 Nations Cup.
