Otunola gave this assurance while throwing light on what boxing fans can expect from the forthcoming series of bouts that will be staged under the tag ‘Chaos In Lagos,’ as put together by Unboxx Sports And Entertainment Limited.
While revealing that a total of ten fights will take place on the evening at SportsCity, Bernard Otunola further disclosed that the main card will be a national welterweight title contest between Oluwasegun Mustafa and Yakubu Faruq.
He added that side attractions in music, dance and comedy have also been added to the evening’s schedule in order to make it a complete experience that will compete with global standards in the best of entertainment and sports.
Otunola disclosed excitedly, “On the 21st of July, we will have a series of boxing bouts.
During the series, one of our boxers, Olusegun Mustafa, is going to be contesting for the Nigerian welterweight title at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
“The event will start at 3 pm, and it will not be just boxing as usual. There are some extra elements that come together to make boxing look like an activation of society or a marketing agency.
“All of that and more will be available on July 21st. We are putting together all those activations and properties.
“We will put everything together so that the world can see the values of Nigerian boxing and not look at us as a one-day or one-off kind of thing.”
The visionary promoter went on to give a breakdown of what fans should expect on the evening of July 21st in the sports hall of Nigeria’s former number stadium.
“We are expecting 10 chaotic bouts. That’s the reason why we call it Chaos In Lagos. There will also be side attractions in music, dance and a little bit of comedy.
“We want to show that every day is not just about listening to music at home. You can also enjoy it when you come out to support your favourite boxer.
“If you have real interest in boxing, you won’t always be looking forward to seeing international athletes doing well, while our local ones are suffering.
“Once you come out for this event, you are equally serving as a sponsor to our efforts at promoting Nigerian boxing,” Otunola reasoned.
He stressed that the resurgence of Nigerian boxing is a task that can be achieved only with all hands on deck, hence his charge to boxing fans to troop out in their numbers to cheer all the pugilists towards peak performances.
