CHAN EAGLES: KEMI OGUNFUWA LANDED IN LOME TO CHEER HOME BASED EAGLES TO VICTORY

Chairperson of Football Fans Club of Nigeria, Kemi Ogunfuwa on Friday touched down in Lome, the capital of Togo with her group to give maximum support to the Nigerian home-based Eagles against the Sparrow Hawks of Togo for the first leg of 2020 African Nations Championship qualifying series billed to kick off on Sunday at 4 pm.

Ogun state born football Ambassador said she is ready to give all to the team to achieve the lofty dream of lifting the CHAN title for the record first time to Nigeria.

“As a way of maximizing the morale of Nigerian home-based side who spanked Sudan under 23 side 4-0, recently, the supporters club came to Lome to further boost their confidence that they can do it.

The Home-based Super Eagles also known as Eagles B, the Head Coach of the side, Imama Amakpakabo said he brought large chunks of under 23 players to Togo to prepare the U23 boys for the 3rd edition of U23 AFCON finals holding in Egypt from 8th to 22nd November 2019.

The Ex International added that ” I think the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation is to include the U23 squad, without any foreign-based players to the home-based trojans to prosecute the CHAN qualifying fixtures.

Kemi, therefore, calls on football-loving Nigerians to rally round and support the Home-Based Eagles to victory. “I would like to call on football-loving Nigerians irrespective of where they are to give maximum support to this team so as to make us proud”. We have been here in Lome since Friday to mobilise Nigerians in Togo to join hands with us for maximum support, She solicited.

The Federation Togolese de Football (FTF) has scheduled Sunday’s encounter for the Stade de Kegue in the country’s capital city, starting from 4 pm.

Nigeria finished as runners-up of the last edition of the African Nations Championship held in Morocco early last year lost 4-0 having also picked up the bronze medals in South Africa in 2014.

Cameroon will host the 6th African Nations Championship in June 2020.
