The 2025 Bet9ja Foundation Southeast Badminton Championship concluded with colour, excitement, and a strong display of emerging talent, as champions across all categories were handsomely rewarded with medals, trophies, badminton equipment, and cash prizes.
The three-day competition reaffirmed the tournament’s status as the premier badminton development platform in the Southeast region.
Held under the banner of the Southeast Badminton Outreach, a pet project of former African badminton queen Obiageli Solaja, the championship brought together over 40 players and five coaches representing the five Southeastern states — Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Imo. From intense rallies to tactical masterclasses, the event showcased an impressive calibre of youth talent capable of representing Nigeria on the continental and global stages.

The championship, organised in collaboration with the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) and the Enugu State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, once again enjoyed the full backing of the Bet9ja Foundation, whose commitment to grassroots sports continues to set the benchmark for corporate involvement in youth development.
Solaja expressed joy over the growth of the initiative, noting that the tournament has become a breeding ground for future champions. She praised the Bet9ja Foundation for its unwavering support in ensuring that young players not only compete but also receive exposure, mentorship, and quality equipment to aid their progress.
“The Southeast has always had incredible talent,” she said. “What we are doing through this project is creating a consistent pathway for young athletes to grow, compete, and dream bigger. Bet9ja Foundation has been an outstanding partner in this mission.”
