The Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in Ibadan, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan David Akoro, has been appointed to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPL) Board, a significant achievement for the enigmatic leader.
Akoro, known for his expertise and results-oriented leadership, has revitalized the fortunes of the Oluyole Warriors, rekindling the passion of their teeming fans.
Under his tenure, the once disillusioned supporters have returned in droves, filling the stadium to capacity during every home match.
Although the club narrowly missed out on a continental slot last season, the fans’ faith in Akoro and the management remains unwavering.
His leadership has brought a renewed sense of hope and pride to the supporters, who continue to back their team with fervor.
The announcement of Akoro’s appointment was made on Sunday, September 1, 2024, during a meeting of Club Owners in Abuja. The news sparked jubilation in Ibadan, where the ancient city celebrated having their proud son named to the Board of the apex league.
In a private conversation with Sunday Agunbiade, also known as “Mr. VAR,” shortly after the announcement, Akoro expressed his elation at being considered for the prestigious position. “I am also pleased to inform you that I have just been officially appointed as a member of the Nigeria Premier League Board. I sincerely appreciate your support at all times,” he stated.
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Oyo State Chapter, was among the first to congratulate the newly appointed board member, sending an official message of support. Additionally, numerous stakeholders have reached out with well-wishes, recognizing Akoro’s contributions to football and his kind-hearted approach to leadership.
With Akoro now on the NPL Board, the future looks even brighter for 3SC and its dedicated fan base.
