Nigeria’s Cycling Federation (CFN) has called upon the government and corporate entities to provide substantial support to the national team as they embark on their preparations for the upcoming World Cycling Championship in Glasgow, Scotland.

Scheduled to take place from August 3 to August 13, the championship poses a significant opportunity for Nigeria’s cyclists to shine on the international stage.
Femi Thomas, a former cyclist, and member of the CFN board, revealed that the country’s cyclists have already been in an intensive training camp in Abuja for over two months, honing their strategies and techniques for the championship.
However, Thomas emphasized the crucial need for comprehensive support from the government and various organizations to ensure their success at the prestigious event.
While acknowledging that cycling has been steadily gaining popularity in Nigeria, Thomas highlighted the necessity for continued efforts to elevate the sport to meet international standards.
He stressed the importance of sponsors and government support to foster the growth and development of cycling in the country.
Thomas further expressed that the future of cycling in Nigeria relies on a collaborative approach between corporate bodies and the federation.

In addition to the World Cycling Championship, Thomas revealed plans to host a cycling tournament in honor of President Bola Tinubu’s 100 days in office.
