Nigeria is guaranteed a gold medal in the girls’ category of the 2025 CAVB U18 Beach Volleyball Continental Championship, as both Nigeria I and Nigeria II have advanced to the final of the competition.
The all-Nigerian final is scheduled for Thursday, August 7, at Jabi Lake in Abuja, marking a historic achievement for the country’s youth volleyball development efforts.

Pamela Bawa and Joy Lauren (Nigeria I) delivered a dominant performance in the semifinals, defeating DR Congo in straight sets, 2-0 (21-17, 21-14), to book their spot in the final.
In the second semifinal, Nigeria II’s Ifechukwu Odoh and Blessing Anebi came from behind to edge out Egypt I in a gripping three-set match, 2-1 (20-22, 21-18, 15-11), ensuring a clean sweep for Nigeria in the final round.
DR Congo and Egypt I will now face off in the third-place match to determine the bronze medalist.
Following her team’s victory, Pamela Bawa expressed her excitement and readiness for the final:
“I am excited, happy, and thankful to God for granting us the privilege to be in the final and represent our country. I believe, by His grace, we’re going to win the gold medal.”
A bronze medalist at the 2023 African Games, Bawa also looked ahead to the FIVB U18 Beach Volleyball World Championship in Australia and Doha:
“The World Championship means a lot to us. We’re going to give it our best. It won’t be easy, but we’re prepared to fight and come out in flying colours.”
Boys’ Final: DR Congo and Gambia Set for Showdown
In the boys’ division, DR Congo advanced to the final after defeating Nigeria III’s Triumphant Ezeji and Ibrahim Ijai in straight sets (21-17, 21-13).
Gambia booked their place in the final with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Nigeria I (Isaac James and Michael Etido), winning 21-16, 14-21, 15-10.
The final will see DR Congo take on Gambia for the championship title, while Nigeria I and Nigeria III will battle for bronze in the third-place match.
The 2025 CAVB U18 Beach Volleyball Continental Championship continues to showcase emerging talent from across the continent and reinforces Nigeria’s growing influence in youth beach volleyball.
