Cardiff City Complete The Signing Of Super Eagles Left-Back On A Two-Year Deal

Nigerian international left-back Jamilu Collins has signed for EFL Championship club Cardiff City on a two-year deal, Sports247 reports.

The 27-year-old has joined the Bluebirds on a free transfer having left German second-tier club SC Paderborn at the end of the 2021/22 season. He is Cardiff boss Steve Morison’s fourth acquisition of the close season. Cardiff finished 18th place in the 2021-22 season.

“I’m really excited to be in Cardiff, and I can’t wait to get started,” Collins told the club website.

“The club has a great history, and when I got the call to come to Cardiff, I was so excited, I couldn’t resist. I’m looking forward to the challenge of the new season. The goal is to fight for the Premier League.”

Collins began his career with HNK Rijeka and also played for NK Pomorac, HNK Šibenik, and Istra in 1961 all in Croatia before moving to Germany in 2017. He helped Paderborn gain promotion to the Bundesliga in 2018-19, although they were relegated after one season in the top flight. He made 137 appearances in his five years spell at the club.

Collins has 25 caps for the Nigerian national team. He was a member of the Super Eagles squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.
