Edo Queens of Nigeria will face the Inter D’Abidjan in the Semi Final of the CAF Women Champions League Qualifier, WAFU B Tourney as the posted a remarkable comeback 4-2 win over Togo’s AS Kozah in their final group match in Bouaké.
The Ivorian side found themselves trailing by three goals at halftime, with AS Kozah dominating the first half through goals from Solim Kadanga, Tatiana Kayaba, and Kpandjapou Gbati.
However, Inter D’Abidjan emerged from the break with renewed determination, launching a spirited comeback led by Esperance Cousso Agbo, who netted a stunning hat-trick.
Melissa Sandrine Behinan added a fourth goal, sealing the comeback and ensuring their progression to the next stage.
With this victory, Inter D’Abidjan finished the group stage with three points, securing second place behind Benin’s Ainonvi FC, who topped Group A with six points.
In Group B, Edo secured maximum nine points to top the group after posting a 1-0 victory over AS Enticelles of Burkina Faso in their final group game played on Saturday, they will now face the Ivorian host on Tuesday in the Semi Final.
Meanwhile, the defending Champions of the WAFU B Tourney, Hassacas Ladies of Ghana were eliminated from the competition despite their 6-1 demolition of AS Garde of Niger on Saturday.
The Ghanaian side, picked six points but lost the second position to AS Enticelles due to their inferior goal difference as both teams picked 4 points apiece.
The inability of the Ghana team to progress means, a new winner will emerged in the competition as AS Enticelles faces Benin’s Ainonvi FC, in the other Semi Final.
The winner of the competition will win a trophy as well as a qualification to represent the West Africa B region in the 2024 CAF Champions Women League later in the year.
