Rivers United midfielder, Joseph Onoja has confessed the partial negligence on the players side in their hard fought 2-1 victory against Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Champions League first leg.
The defending NPFL champions conceded an early goal in the 7th minute although they insisted that it should have been ruled for offside but they rallied back to seal a 2-1 comeback going into the second leg in Morocco, Sports247 understands.
The midfielder confessed in an interview to how the players didn’t fully obey the tactical instructions of the gaffer owing to the fact of how games can change quickly in the pitch of play.
“There are tactical approach to the game and more or less, the gaffer highlighted what we needed to do in the pitch.”
“When we went in for the second half, he pointed the loopholes to us but as a player, there are times you carry out the instructions perfectly well and times when you don’t know what’s really happening on the pitch of play.”
“That’s why we have the training ground to correct those mistakes and forge ahead,” he concluded.
