CAFCL: Rangers FC Set To Finish Off AS Zilimandjou In CAF Champions League Return Leg Today

Nigeria’s Champions Rangers of Enugu coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has declared his team ready to finish off AS Zilimandjou of Comoros in the second leg of the CAF Champions League first round of Preliminary round in Uyo later today (Friday 23 August 2024), Sports 247 reports.

The Flying Antelopes secured a 1-0 victory in the first leg and are hoping to eliminate their Comoros Island foes, AS Zilimandjou who elect to play their home leg of the encounter at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom Nigeria after the Confederation of Africa Football, CAF did not find any stadium worthy of hosting CAF club competitions in Comoros.

AS Zilimandjou gave a good account of themselves after overcoming the initial setback of settling down late into the game.

The team conceded a the 20th minute of the game with Rangers coming all out to score as much as possible but they were able to hold the Rangers attavker and gradually crawled back into game , managing a slim margin.loss which gave the team a fighting chance of qualifying into the next round.

The Comoros side shows they are not in Uyo to see the beautiful roads alone, especially with their spirited second half performed as Rangers need to do better than what they did in the first leg to qualify into the second round of the preliminary round.

” The side is a very good side, physical and ready to challenge but we are not sleeping we want to finish off the game and advance to the next round ” said Coach Fidelis Ikechukwu.

The coach who is fondly called Camara would be making his third attempt to play in the group stage of the CAF Champions League after he failed in his bid to go beyond the Preliminary stage in the past when he was in charge of MFM FC and Plateau United in the past.

The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, coach of the season revealed that he will be counting on the experiences of those two ugly records, to break the barrier this time.

The kick off time is at 3 pm in Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo Akwa Ibom, Nigeria.
