Libyan side Al Nasr Benghazi, suffered a 5-0 loss in the hands of Rivers United in the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup play off game in Portharcourt, Nigeria yesterday.
A brace from Ebubu Duru and goals from Paul Acquah, Malachi Ohawume and Katie Ezinnaya forced coach Zoran Milinkovic to praise Rivers United’s performance on the day.
“Our performance today was really bad, Rivers United were the better team, that’s all” he stated in his post match reaction.
Speaking on the officiating after conceding two penalties, the coach felt it just wasn’t their day all round.
“It’s hard to say (on the officiating) after two penalties, it doesn’t seem very well but it looks to me that everything was against us today. I believe we could have had a better game but this is one of those matches where nothing is working unfortunately” Milinkovic said.
He however admitted that overturning the result was going to be a huge hurdle to cross in the return fixture in seven days time in Benghazi, Libya.
“To overturn this result is difficult. That’s the situation, we have to play a second game and try to do much better and we’ll see” he concluded.
