RSB Berkane were crowned champions of the 2022 CAF Confederation Cup after they defeated Super Eagles defender, Olisa Ndah and his Orlando Pirates club side in Uyo.
The final which ended goalless in regulation time, saw two goals scored in extra time after Youssef Alfahki put Berkane ahead from the penalty spot in the first half of extra time before Christopher Lorch levelled for Pirates at the death of the extra time.
In a match dominated by a Pirates side who were wasteful in front of goal, Berkane had little chance creates all through regulation time.
In the penalty shoot out, Christopher Lorch who was the hero in extra time became the villian when he had his spot kick saved by Hamza Akbi. The advantage was what Berkane held to be crowned champions of 2022.
This trophy will be Berkane’s second in two years after they won nthe same competition in 2020. Orlando Pirates’ wait will continue after the had hoped of ending the 27 years drought on a continental trophy.
The final was graced by big names in football and political world, dignitaries which includes the CAF president, Dr. Patrick Motsepe, Governor of Akwa Ibom, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, Nigeria Minister of Youth & Sports, Mr Sunday Dare and other big names in the football industry.
