Bayelsa United forward Okardi Inikurogha says Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round fixture against As Ashanti Golden Boys of Guinea will provide another opportunity to rewrite the club’s history after seven years of absence in the continent.
Bayelsa United will look to continue their fairytale season after emerging champions last month in the Aiteo Cup where they dispatched Premier league sides to book a place in the final.
Speaking shortly after the team’s training session at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa, Okardi said the team was prepared to face their Guinean opponents who finished 4th in the Guinée Championnat National last season.
The diminutive attacker who hails from Ewo-ama in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State noted that the spirit in the camp was high, adding that the dream of every player was to play in the continent describing it as a dream come true.
Okardi Inikurogha who has been on the radar of some NPFL sides will hope to continue his goal-scoring prowess against the first time CAF Confederation campaigners at the Samson Siasia Stadium having scored three goals in Aiteo Cup.
The kick-off time for the encounter is 3 pm Nigerian time.
