In the first of Matchday two in the group, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies’ title defense went back on track on Wednesday afternoon after the reigning champions secured a commanding 4-0 win over Central Bank of Ethiopia.
Following their shock 1-0 loss to Egyptian debutants, FC Masar on Saturday, the South Africans re-grouped to put up a strong performance against the Ethiopians who are now eliminated from the competition after back-to-back losses.
For the reigning champions on the other side, they receive a much-needed lifeline ahead of the crucial decider on Saturday where they will face Edo Queens to determine whether they continue with their title defence in Morocco as Edo Queens settled for a goalless draw against FC Massar.
Edo Queens must avoid defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday as either of these two group favourites looks likely to be eliminated in this winner takes all encounters.
For FC Massar , they are almost through , having done the hard part of not conceding defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns and Edo Queens , it is expected that the Egyptians should secure the needed victory against the whipping girls of the group, CBE of Ethiopia and book a place in the Semi final irrespective of the outcome of the Edo Queens vs Mamelodi Sundowns match.
