The weeklong course with a total of 16 elite female football instructors from across Africa participated in the program which forms part of CAF’s ongoing commitment to developing women’s football on the continent held earlier this month at the Mohamed VI Football Complex in Rabat.
Administered by highly qualified CAF & FIFA Women’s Football experts Jacqueline Shipanga and Clementine Toure, the program delved deep into various topics which included modern trends of football, the modern athlete’s physical fitness needs, organization and evaluation of training sessions, female-specific training and a detailed evaluation and analysis of Africa’s performance at the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The CAF Head of Women’s Football Meskerem Tadesse further stressed the importance of having trained and licensed coaches, which would in turn benefit grassroots football in the women’s game.
“Coaching education is a crucial component of women’s football development. Currently, our continent has just over 5,000 women coaches who are CAF-certified, which we believe is insufficient”.
“We believe that with such capacity-building programs, the instructors will be motivated and empowered to deliver courses in their respective MAs”, she concluded.
Concluding yet another successful women’s football workshop by CAF, Meskerem Tadesse added that the resounding success of the workshop was a testament to CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe’s bold vision of making African football globally competitive.
