Coach of Al Akhdar of Libya Samir Chammam has cried foul and expressed unhappiness over the hostility Plateau United gave his team in the last preliminary round match of the CAF Considerations Cup first leg game on Wednesday.
The gaffer fumed as he spoke in Arabic complaining to journalists after the game how he and his team were frustrated by the ill-treatment from the Jos-based team. In his words, Plateau united treated his side as if they were at war.
“The referee was so bad against us. We had two penalties but he didn’t give us the two penalties. All the conditions were against us giving a good performance; the ground, and all other things.
“Plateau didn’t offer us good ground to train in. The ground wasn’t that good. Even the pitch that we were given to train in. They gave us too late. It was like they were in a war with us before the game and after the game. They were not fair”. He concluded as he sets the tone for a tough return leg.
The Jos club was propelled to victory when forward Mustapha Yuga gave the home team the lead in the 27th minute as he headed from close range into the top corner.
The lead was doubled with a great goal from Ifeanyi Emmanuel and striker Hilary got a brace to put the game beyond the visitors but not until they pulled one back.
Plateau United will travel to Libya for the second leg next week to consolidate their win at the Martyrs of February Stadium, Benghazi. Winners of the two-leg tie will qualify for the money-spinning group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
