CAF Clarifies Distribution of 800 Match Balls For Nigeria’s Schools Football Championship

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has provided clarification on the distribution of 800 match balls earmarked for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) under the CAF African Schools Football Championship project.

These balls are intended for all the schools that participated in the male and female National Finals held in Abuja from November 2nd to 9th, 2023.

Fourteen schools were part of the Male and Female categories in Abuja, and CAF has confirmed that all fourteen schools will collectively share the 800 matchday balls provided by the organizers.

Notably, National Grammar School, Nike, Enugu emerged victorious in the male tournament, which featured 11 schools from various states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Meanwhile, FOSLA Academy claimed the championship in the female category, which featured a three-team competition.

In a separate development, representatives from Nigeria, Benin Republic, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, and the host nation Togo have gathered in Lome for the four-day WAFU B zonal finals.

The tournament, taking place at the Stade Municipal de Kegue, will culminate on Sunday, determining the flagbearer for WAFU B at the continental finals scheduled for April 2024.

Nigeria’s representatives at the WAFU B zonal finals won two matches, drew one, and suffered two losses.

They are set to compete for the third-place position on Sunday against the representative team from Ghana.

The outcomes of these matches will play a crucial role in shaping the narrative for the participating nations as they vie for regional and continental honors in the ongoing football events.
