CAF Champions League: We Are Facing A Tough Opponent In Plateau United – Vandenbroeck

*Admits his team are wary of the NPFL Champions
*Says he and his players don’t feel too confident despite the huge league tie win against Coastal Union

Simba SC head coach Sven Vandenbroeck has charged his players not to be carried away by their 7-0 league tie win against Coastal Union, as they shift focus to a trip to Plateau United in the first leg of the Preliminary Round of the CAF Champions League.
Despite their 7-0 League tie victory against Coastal Union, the Belgium coach has warned his players of complacency and for them to be very wary of Plateau United as they travel to Jos for a continental assignment.

He said while speaking to Sports 247 and Daily News, “There is a risk after winning 7-0 because people become too confident but we do not need to be like that because we will face a strong opponent. It was good preparation, good image but we still need to be aware of the danger that awaits us in Nigeria”.

After the 7-0 league tie victory, the Simba SC coach said “Generally, I cannot say much because the 7-0 win shows that we were very dominant in the whole game but in the second half, our tempo slowed because we were 5-0 up and in the mind of players, they knew that they were traveling, that was logic”.

Simba SC will be hoping to improve from last year’s poor run in the competition as they were knocked out in the Preliminary Round of the CAF Champions League by UD Songo of Mozambique.

The first leg will be played at the New Jos Stadium, Nigeria this Sunday, while the return leg will be played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on the weekend of December 4.
