Stanley Eguma, Rivers United head coach has showered encomiums on the state government’s immense contribution and good welfarism led by governor Nyesom Wike for the club following thier CAF Champions League progress as he vows to use that as a motivation to do more.
He disclosed the extent at which his excellency made sure that they are well taken care of for optimum performance after the loss against Watanga although they still made it to the semi finals having won the first leg three goals to nil.
“My players are in high spirits, working very hard, the sponsorship and welfare is perfectly okay, the excellency is doing us well and I believe with his motivation, the sky will be our limit and go beyond the group stage of the competition.”
Eguma also posited that the task ahead against Wydad Casablanca in the semi finals shouldn’t be handled lightly, “We have to work very hard and improve on our performance so far, it’s going to be a big game against the champions of Africa, it’s not an easy meat.”
On thier chances of progression, he said, “I think we are equal to the task.”
