Coach of Plateau United Fidelis Ilechukwu has stated that his team should be allowed to train at least twice in the main bowl of the Moshud Abiola Stadium as his team is in full preparation for this weekend’s CAF Champion’s League match with Esperance of Tunisia.
Plateau United will go head to head with four-time CAF Champions League champions Esperance of Tunisia in the 2nd round preliminary knockout phase of the inter-club tournament after they defeated Stade Mandji of Gabon 3-2 on aggregate to reach this stage.
Knowing the tough task ahead, Ilechukwu has asked the authorities to allow Plateau United to train twice on the pitch before match day. Speaking to pressmen after one of the training sessions of the team, the coach also expressed worry about how mighty a threat Esperance could be in the encounter.
“Everything is fine. We are good. We are working very hard to see what we can do to win our game against Esperance of Tunisia. It’s not going to be an easy game. It’s going to be a very difficult game for us but we will do our best.
“We are going to be in Abuja on Wednesday and I hope we will have the opportunity to train in the main bowl of the National Stadium so that we can understand the pitch very well. Just like what happened last time. We were not allowed to train on that pitch. We should be allowed to train twice on that pitch before the game”.
Plateau United will on 9th October take their Tunisian Opponent in the first leg fixture in Nigeria with the reversed fixture slated for 15th, October.
