Goals from Malachi Ohawume, Ukeme Williams and Denis Ndasi saw us claim victory against ASEC Mimosa to make it our first win out of two in this season’s CAF TotalEnergies Confederation’s Cup and move to the second place on the Group B table in the process.
Two strikes in the first half did the damage as Malachi Ohawume netted in the first minute before Ukeme Williams followed up with superb second just before halftime to stun the Les Mimos.
Three minutes after the restart, Denis Ndasi netted his first CAF Confederation’s Cup goal for the Pride of Rivers to clinch the three points and complete a good night’s work for Stanley Eguma’s men.
Rivers United at the double, having made four changes from the side that lost in Brazzaville Congo on Sunday, Coach Stanley Eguma this time claimed the spoils in Uyo on Sunday to remember. Eguma’s new-look team were like wounded lion who wasted no time in feasting on it’s prey.
Malachi Ohawume showed excellent reaction to finish off a beautiful team play 60 seconds into the first half.
Nyima Nwagua was the orchestrator of the second goal in the 42nd minute as he produced a wonderful bit of skill and turn that was begging to be dispatched into the net, and Ukeme Williams was on hand to do just that to double United’s advantage.
Ndasi wraps it up with just three minutes into the second half, the third goal did arrive thanks to some Cameroonian magic. Denis Ndasi was well positioned to head in a well taken corner kick from Ebube Duru to complete an emphatic win.
Rivers United move into second position in group B with 3 points, one point behind Diables Noirs after 2 matches played.
