CAF Appoints Eight Nigerian Referees For Key African Club Competition Matches

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has selected eight Nigerian match officials to officiate in two crucial second-leg encounters in the preliminary rounds of the CAF Club Competitions this weekend, Nigeria Whistlers confirms.

Dr. Joseph Ogabor will take charge as the center referee for the CAF Champions League clash between Club Ferroviário da Beira of Mozambique and Mbabane Swallows FC of Eswatini.

The match is scheduled to take place on August 25th at Matola-Campo Stadium in Mozambique. Ogabor will be assisted by Tejiri Digbori Bensmart (Assistant Referee 1) and Abdulmajeed Olaide (Assistant Referee 2). Grema Mohammed completes the team as the fourth official.

In another significant CAF fixture, Kano-based referee Salisu Basheer has been assigned to oversee the CAF Confederation Cup match between Zesco FC of Zambia and Power Dynamos FC of Zimbabwe.

The match, also a second-leg encounter, will see Sam Pwadutakan as Assistant Referee 1, while Mahmud Mohammed Yakubu serves as Assistant Referee 2. Nurudeen Oko will be the fourth official for this crucial fixture.

The appointment of these Nigerian referees highlights CAF’s confidence in their officiating abilities as they take on these important roles in high-stakes matches across the continent. Both fixtures are expected to be fiercely contested as the teams aim to advance to the next stages of their respective competitions.
